The Rockdale Fire Protection District, part of the MABAS Division 15, has expanded its operations with the addition of a new department. Located in a three-square-mile area, the district operates from a single fire station equipped with a variety of apparatus. Their fleet includes two engines, a tanker, a squad, a brush truck, and two support vehicles, ensuring they are well-prepared for a range of emergency responses. The newest engine is a custom 2008 Sutphen top-mount pumper, known for its durability and performance. It is supported by a 1994 FMC Omega pumper built on a Sentinel chassis. The cab and chassis were manufactured by Spartan, giving the unit a classic "RS style" appearance. However, this particular vehicle was customized with unique trim packages and options that were specific to the FMC private label, making it stand out among other units of the same model.
