"Development and application demonstration of high-precision photothermal potential analyzer" project started

On March 12, 2019, the official launch event of the National Major Scientific Instrument and Equipment Development Project titled "Development and Application Demonstration of High-Precision Photothermal Potential Analyzer" took place in Beijing. This significant project is led by Beijing Haiguang Instrument Co., Ltd., a leading company in scientific instrumentation. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including academicians from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Jin Guojun from Tsinghua University, and Dr. Zhao Chunyang from the Ministry of Science and Technology's High Technology Center. Their presence underscored the importance of this initiative in advancing China’s scientific equipment capabilities. Beijing Haiguang Instrument Co., Ltd., established in 1988, is part of the China National Geological Equipment Group, a Fortune 500 company. With decades of experience, the company has accumulated dozens of patented technologies and over ten software copyrights. It maintains strong research partnerships with prestigious institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Tsinghua University, further enhancing its R&D strength and innovation capacity. Scientific instruments are essential for scientific research, technological progress, and national security. To strengthen China’s independent innovation in this field, the government launched the “Special Scientific Instrument and Equipment Development” program in 2016. This initiative aims to improve domestic scientific equipment standards, support industrial upgrades, and promote an innovation-driven development strategy. Historically, high-end electrochemical instruments and scanning electrochemical workstations have been largely imported, creating a pressing need for advanced, domestically developed analytical tools. In response, the "Development and Application Demonstration of High-Precision Photothermal Potential Analyzer" project was officially launched in 2018, with a budget of 14.1 million yuan and a three-year implementation period. The goal is to develop a device capable of combining photometric, thermal, and potentiometric analysis methods, enabling high-precision and high-throughput titration. During the meeting, Liu Haitao, General Manager of Haiguang Instruments, announced the members of the “two groups and one committee” — the project team, technical expert group, and user committee. Experts from these groups reviewed the project plan and provided valuable suggestions on both technical development and project management. They praised the clarity of the project objectives, the detailed content, the reasonable technical approach, and the feasible timeline. This project marks a significant step forward in China’s efforts to develop cutting-edge scientific instruments and reduce reliance on foreign technology. It also highlights the growing role of domestic companies like Haiguang Instruments in driving innovation and supporting national scientific and industrial goals.
