Aligning Value with Usage and Outcomes: Introducing Flex
As part of our ongoing effort to offer customers more flexible and value-driven purchasing options, we’re excited to introduce **Flex**. This new offering combines the advantages of a named user model with the adaptability of a pay-as-you-go system. Flex officially launched on **September 24**, and it’s designed to help users get the most out of Autodesk products, no matter their usage pattern.
In this Engineering.com interview, Jeff Kinder shares his insights on how Flex is reshaping the way people interact with design tools.
We are one of the first in the industry to introduce a consumption-based model that complements our existing subscriptions. Whether you're an existing customer or just starting out, Flex offers a way to access Autodesk tools without the long-term commitment of a subscription. For current users, it helps maximize product value and allows them to explore other tools in our portfolio. For new users, it provides a low-cost entry point with no need for a full subscription.
Watch this short video to learn more about what Flex is and how it works:
### Meeting Customers Where They Are
“Predicting what a design team will need at the start of the year is tough. Projects come and go, and flexibility is essential to meet those needs without locking into a big budget upfront,†says Donogh McGrath, Director of Information Security & Vendor Management.
Our goal has always been to support our customers in achieving great results. That means offering solutions that match their unique workflows and business models. Over time, we’ve seen the value of a flexible, pay-as-you-go model, especially as we’ve refined our approach to named users. This insight led us to create Flex — a model that gives users more control and reduces the barrier to entry.
Flex is now available for many of our products, making it easier for occasional users to try out Autodesk tools without committing to a full subscription. It can work alongside your existing subscriptions or stand alone, depending on your needs.
### Benefits of Flex and How It Works
Flex is built with simplicity in mind. Just like other pay-as-you-go systems, it’s easy to use and manage. You can set individual controls for each user or choose a default setup for a more hands-off experience. And just like with a single-user subscription, Flex provides detailed insights into usage and user activity.
With Flex, you can:
1. Easily try new products
2. Save costs by paying only for what you use
3. Boost productivity with faster procurement and less administrative overhead

### What’s Next?
At Autodesk, we're continuously working to bring new and innovative solutions to our customers. We believe Flex will be a valuable addition to our product lineup, helping both new and existing users achieve more with less commitment.
