The Potain Hup 32-27 crane, which debuted at the Bauma exhibition in Munich in early 2016, is the first of a new line of self-erecting tower cranes with many design elements that will change the crane market. Convenient transport options, fast automatic erection and wearable remote controls are new features that increase user productivity.

“The cranes we designed are easy to transport, easy to use, and introduce new components. They are powerful models in self-contained tower cranes.” Jean, Global Product Manager, Self-Employed Tower Cranes, Manitowoc Potent - Pierre Zaffiro said. “Our goal is to design a powerful, flexible crane that allows users to perform a wide range of tasks with a single crane, greatly increasing machine utilization.”

Like other Potain self-contained tower cranes, the Hup 32-27 is suitable for use on narrow site sites. It is equipped with two adjustable towers and a third section of the telescopic tower. This design increases the height of the hook from 21m to 27m when the tower is extended in Section 3. The boom of the crane can also be selected in different positions. The elevation angle of the boom can be up to 30° and the height of the arm tip is up to 40m.

Four-in-one crane

Users will find this crane to be particularly flexible to use, with a tail radius of only 2.25m, which is closer to the building on the job site.

It has two support areas: 4 mx 4 m or 3.5 mx 4.42 m, and the dynamic deployment of the crane can move freely even in the most crowded spaces. In addition, the built-in leveling system allows the crane to be mounted on a slope of up to 8°, ie when the height difference between the two legs is 25 cm.

“With the Hup 32-27, like four cranes, the user’s attitude is very positive from the initial feedback,” Zaffiro said. “We spent more than a year experimenting with these cranes and finally realized our design. We believe that the new series of cranes represent the cutting-edge technology of self-contained tower cranes.”

Hup 32-27 is now fully available. Manitowoc will soon launch the next model of the series, the Hup 40-30. (This article is from Manitowoc)
