Berwyn experienced a box alarm this afternoon at 2311 Harvey. The first arriving company reported heavy smoke and visible fire coming from a two-story bungalow. Mutual aid units from Stickney, Cicero, North Riverside, and Forest Park responded to the scene. Josh Boyajian arrived shortly after the initial engine and witnessed thick smoke with flames on the second floor. He captured several photos that provide a clear view of the incident. As the fire spread, crews worked quickly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighboring homes. The use of ladders and the aerial apparatus helped firefighters access the upper levels of the structure. It’s clear from the photos that the situation was intense, with heavy smoke and significant flames. Firefighters faced challenges such as long hose lays and limited access to water sources, but they managed to control the fire effectively.
