Berwyn Box Alarm 3-27-11
Berwyn experienced a box alarm this afternoon at 2311 Harvey Street. The first responding unit arrived to find heavy smoke and visible flames coming from a two-story bungalow. Additional support came from Stickney, Cicero, North Riverside, and Forest Park fire departments. Josh Boyajian was on the scene shortly after the initial engine and witnessed thick smoke and fire on the second floor. He captured several photos that give a clear view of the situation.
The fire was contained after several hours of intense efforts by multiple departments. Residents were evacuated, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
