Beijing Auto Show will be held in the next year as a branch venue in the agricultural exhibition hall
Beijing, December 24 (Reporter Zhang Yi) – The 2004 Beijing International Automobile Exhibition is set to take place from June 9 to June 16 at the China International Exhibition Center, as previously announced. In a significant development, a branch venue will also be established at the Agricultural Exhibition Hall, marking an expansion of the event's scale and reach.
Wan Jifei, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), confirmed that only one Beijing auto show will be held next year, dismissing any possibility of a second event. This comes after a recent press conference where some organizers and contractors had announced plans to host another "Beijing International Automobile Exhibition" in May 2004. The news of two major auto shows being held within a month has sparked widespread discussion among industry experts and the public.
At the press conference on the 24th, several representatives who had previously expressed interest in organizing a separate event were present but did not address the issue. During the session, nearly 100 reporters asked no questions about the conflicting announcements. Earlier this month, media outlets reported that organizers of both events had been in secret discussions regarding potential collaboration or unification. From the 21st onward, reports about the possible merger of the two exhibitions have continued to circulate, with none of the organizers officially confirming or denying the rumors.
Wan Jifei emphasized that the 2004 exhibition will cover a total area of 120,000 square meters, providing a comprehensive platform for showcasing the latest innovations, technologies, and trends in the global automotive industry. For the first time, the event will introduce electronic magnetic card tickets, enhancing visitor experience through the use of advanced information technology. This move reflects the growing integration of digital solutions in large-scale international exhibitions.
