2-Alarm house fire in Evanston – 3/20/15
This just in from Evanston: Tim Olk captured these images earlier today (March 20, 2015) of a two-alarm fire that broke out at a house on Harrison Street around 2 PM. It was quite the scene, with flames shooting through the roof and smoke filling the air. Here's what I saw:
The first photo shows the intense fire consuming the roof structure. The heat was so intense that it felt like you could feel it even from a distance. The second shot gives a broader view of the chaos, with firefighters working tirelessly to bring the blaze under control.
In another image, you can see firefighters in action, their silhouettes stark against the orange glow of the fire. They were clearly doing everything they could to get the situation under wraps. There's also a picture of one of those massive aerial trucks on site—those things are impressive when you see them up close.
Things got calmer as the day went on, but the aftermath was still striking. One final shot captures the damage left behind, particularly in the attic area, where the fire had done significant damage. All in all, it was an intense event that kept everyone on edge for hours.
These photos really tell the story of how quickly things can escalate, and how much effort goes into keeping communities safe. Kudos to Tim Olk for capturing such powerful images during this chaotic time.
