Structure fire in Harvey, 3/12/15

The Harvey Fire Department responded to a full still alarm this morning at 10 W. 147th Street, where a fire broke out at a tire storage facility. The incident occurred early Thursday and quickly escalated, prompting emergency crews to arrive on the scene in force. According to reports from ChicagoTribune.com, firefighters were called to a blaze at a tire shop located near 147th Street and Ashland Avenue. Upon arrival, they found one of the buildings on the property fully engulfed in flames. Due to the intensity of the fire, crews opted for a defensive approach, working from outside the structure to prevent the fire from spreading further. The location had previously been home to a lumber yard before being converted into a tire storage facility. Local residents reported heavy smoke and loud noises as the fire raged through the building. No injuries have been reported so far, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Photos by Tim Olk capture the dramatic scene, showing an E-ONE tower ladder in action and emergency vehicles responding to the call. One image reveals the aftermath of the fire, with part of the building collapsed. Another shows a red and black fire engine stationed nearby, highlighting the scale of the response. This is a developing story, and more updates are expected as investigators continue to assess the damage and determine the origin of the fire. Stay tuned for further information.
