Diisononyl Phthalate

DINP, also known as diisononyl phthalate, is a commonly used Plasticizer that is obtained by esterification reaction between phthalic anhydride and isononyl alcohol. It is a transparent oil-like liquid with a slight odor and is a high-performance universal main plasticizer. DINP is highly soluble in PVC and will not precipitate even when used in large quantities. Its volatility, migration, and toxicity are all better than DOP (di-n-octyl phthalate), and it can impart good light resistance, heat resistance, aging resistance, and electrical insulation properties to products, with superior performance compared to DOP. Due to the good water resistance, extraction resistance, low toxicity, aging resistance, and excellent electrical insulation properties of DINP products, they are widely used in toy film, electric wires, and cables.
Compared with DOP, DINP has a larger molecular weight and a longer carbon chain, so it has better aging resistance, anti-migration performance, anti-extraction performance, and higher high-temperature performance. Conversely, under the same conditions, DINP's plasticizing effect is slightly worse than that of DOP. Generally speaking, DINP is considered to be more environmentally friendly than DOP.
DINP has superiority in improving extrusion efficiency. Under typical extrusion processing conditions, DINP can lower the melt viscosity of the mixture more than DOP, which helps reduce the die pressure, reduce mechanical wear or increase the extrusion production rate (up to 21%), and this production rate increase can be achieved without changing the product formula and production process, without additional fixed investment, without additional energy consumption, and while maintaining product quality.
DINP is a liquid at normal temperatures and is not soluble in water. It is usually transported by tank truck and small quantities are transported by iron drums or special plastic drums.

Application:

Mainly used as general vinyl Resin plasticizer for PVC film, artificial leather, wire and cable and flooring materials, can be used to replace the DOP plasticizer, which has great market potential.
