Miniature vacuum pump principle

Miniature vacuum pumps operate on a simple principle: one nozzle is used for suction, while another serves as the exhaust. This creates a vacuum or negative pressure at the intake, and a slight positive pressure at the exhaust. The working medium is typically gas, making it a compact and efficient device. For example, consider a sealed container initially at atmospheric pressure (100 kPa). When a miniature vacuum pump like the VAA6005 is used to continuously evacuate the container, the internal pressure can be reduced to below atmospheric, reaching an absolute pressure of 60 kPa. This makes it ideal for applications requiring controlled pressure environments. Beyond basic suction, advanced designs allow these pumps to function as both vacuum and pressure pumps. For instance, models such as the PCF and FAA series can generate significant positive pressure at the exhaust, enabling tasks like pressurization, inflation, and overcoming system resistance.
