"Industrial Robot Cable Torsion and Bending Test System" passed the acceptance test
China Instrument Network Instrument R&D recently, the Hebei Provincial Market Supervision Bureau gathered renowned experts from the International Large Power Grid Insulated Cable China Research Committee, Xi'an Jiaotong University, and other institutions, along with officials from the Hebei Provincial Quality Inspection Institute. Together, they officially accepted the Robot Cable Torsion and Bending Test System.
In recent years, China's industrial robot market has experienced rapid growth, becoming the largest application market globally, accounting for nearly one-third of the world’s total. However, as automation plants demand long-term stable multi-axis motion, the cables that power these robots face extreme stress. This presents a unique challenge for cable and connector manufacturers. The domestic demand for testing critical performance indicators like torsion and bending in industrial robot cables has become increasingly urgent.
To address the lack of specialized testing equipment for key performance metrics of robot cables in China, the Hebei Provincial Quality Inspection Institute embarked on a two-year research and development project. They selected advanced international transmission and bending torsion control devices and integrated them with an online monitoring system. The result was the development of the Robot Cable Torsion and Bending Test System, a breakthrough in the industry.
The system consists of seven sets of equipment, capable of performing tests on seven main projects, including 90° bending, 2D or 3D torsion, and vertical torsion. It can collect multi-channel detection signals from multiple industrial robot cable samples, displaying real-time data on the number of cycles, conduction conditions, and rotation angles. Users can set arbitrary rotation angles to perform millions, even tens of millions of torsion and bending cycles, ensuring accurate assessment of the mechanical life of robot cables. This helps maintain their excellent electrical and mechanical properties over time.
Experts have praised the system for meeting both the standards of the Chinese Robot Industry Alliance and the German TÜV Rheinland, significantly improving the accuracy and efficiency of testing while filling a gap in the domestic market.
Additionally, this advanced test system is expected to provide strong technical support for the development of the robot industry in Hebei Province. Through services such as equipment R&D, inspection, and standardization, it will accelerate industrial transformation, enhance quality, and boost productivity.
Currently, the system is undergoing patent applications and commercialization. It has already been successfully tested in several leading industrial robot cable enterprises in Hebei. Its design and operation have received positive feedback from both experts and industry leaders.
