Chicago 2-11 Alarm fire 8-17-13 (more)

This is what Eric Haak sent over: A few photos taken this morning during the 2-11 alarm at the 5400 block of South Kedzie. The incident occurred around 05:47 AM. Engine 88 and Engine 123 were on scene, along with Tower Ladder 39 and Truck 52. Battalion 20 had RIT with Truck 41. Battalion 19 reported a fire in a single-story commercial strip mall, approximately 100 by 50 feet, which seemed to have originated in the liquor store. Engines 88 and 123 were operating in Sector 1 on Kedzie, alongside the Tower and Squad 5a. At 05:57 AM, Box reinforcements arrived with Engine 65 and Engine 34. Engine 34 was set up at the entrance to the alley on 54th Place in Sector 3. Tower Ladder 54 was stationed in Sector 4 on 54th Place. At 06:14 AM, the situation was upgraded to a defensive operation. Battalion 4 was acting as Safety Chief and observed the progress from the roof of the adjacent building to the north. Engine 65 also deployed a hose line from this position. When I arrived, Sector 3 was thick with smoke, and I could see a discarded hand line through the back of one of the businesses. The 2-11 alarm was officially called at around 07:20 AM.
