Another Lake County, MABAS Division 4 department has been added to the site. Previously known as the Bonnie Brook Fire Protection District, The Beach Park Fire Department serves an area of approximately 14 square miles in northeast Lake County, covering both unincorporated regions and the town of Beach Park. However, it does not provide full coverage for the entire town—part of Beach Park is managed by the Winthrop Harbor Fire Department.

As reported in the Beach Park Village Link Newsletter during the winter of 2003:

The New Beach Park Fire Department

In the final months of 2002, significant improvements were made to fire protection services in our village. Previously called the “Bonnie Brook Fire Protection District,” the department officially changed its name to the “Beach Park Fire Department” (BPFD) last November to better reflect its service areas and capabilities.

The Beach Park Fire Department maintains a diverse fleet of equipment, including units from Alexis, Pierce, Seagrave, Medtec, and Osage. The most recent addition is Engine 1222, a 2008 Seagrave Maurauder II engine. Currently, Engine 1212, a 2002 HME/Alexis unit, is being repaired at Alexis Fire Apparatus.

Recently, the Beach Park Fire Department opened a second station at 13110 W. Major Avenue in Beach Park. Originally a residential home with an attached garage, the space was renovated into a lobby and office area, with a two-bay addition built for emergency vehicles. Today, the station operates with a crew of two or three members, functioning as a jump company that responds with either an engine or ambulance depending on the call type.

With a growing community and evolving needs, the Beach Park Fire Department continues to adapt and serve with dedication. Their commitment to safety and their unique approach to station design make them a valuable part of the Lake County fire protection network.
