Autodesk Launches Dynamo Studio and FormIt 360 Pro at AIA

Two New Conceptual Design Tools to Enhance BIM Workflows

At this year’s AIA Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, Autodesk introduced two groundbreaking tools—Autodesk FormIt 360 Pro and Autodesk Dynamo Studio—designed to revolutionize the conceptual design phase of building projects. These tools are aimed at creating a more seamless and powerful Building Information Modeling (BIM)-based workflow for architects and designers.

Jim Lynch, Vice President of the Building and Collaboration Product Line Group at Autodesk, emphasized the importance of integrating conceptual design with the rest of the BIM process. “Historically, the early stages of design have been disconnected from the rest of the workflow,” he said. “With FormIt 360 Pro and Dynamo Studio, we’re helping architects build a more connected, efficient, and fluid BIM workflow from the very beginning.”

Autodesk FormIt 360 Pro

FormIt 360 Pro is an advanced version of the free FormIt 360 app, offering enhanced analysis and cloud-based collaboration features that were previously unavailable. It remains a web and mobile application ideal for early-stage BIM-connected conceptual design, allowing users to sketch ideas quickly using intuitive 3D tools and then collaborate, analyze, and refine those concepts.

The new tool includes energy and solar analysis capabilities, enabling users to evaluate performance from the start. It also allows for shadow and sun path studies, helping designers understand how their concept interacts with the site environment. Additionally, users can import map overlays of real-world locations into their models, enhancing accuracy and context.

FormIt Collaboration enables real-time teamwork across devices, whether on an iPad, Android tablet, or desktop browser. With native Revit integration, it ensures a smooth transition from early design to detailed BIM modeling. The new FormIt Converter also allows importing SketchUp and Revit files as editable geometry, making it easier to work with existing data.

Dynamo Studio

Dynamo Studio is a standalone tool that empowers designers to create visual logic for parametric design and automate complex tasks. Unlike earlier versions of Dynamo, which required integration with other software, Dynamo Studio operates independently, offering greater flexibility and control over the design process.

This tool supports interoperable workflows across documentation, fabrication, coordination, simulation, and analysis. By working directly with Revit, Navisworks, Robot Structural Analysis, Excel, SAP2000, Tableau, Rhinoceros, and more, Dynamo Studio helps streamline computational design and fosters a more connected BIM environment.

Its visual programming interface allows designers to develop custom workflows that influence both geometry and behavior in building models, making it easier to solve complex challenges and explore multiple design options quickly.

Spline & Gear Shafts

DAYUE manufactures splines and gear shafts to your drawing specifications

DAYUE manufactures a range of splined and gear shafts for various industries.

Typical uses are heavy duty steering gear for commercial and earth moving vehicles.

It is also widely used in commercial winches, transmission fields, new energy, semiconductors, dynamic brakes, classic vehicles and many other industries that require forward drive systems.

Splines are ridges on the teeth cut on the drive shaft that engage with grooves in the mating piece and transmit torque to it, keeping the angles between them corresponding and can be used in many mechanical transmissions. Helical and Spur Gears can also be cut on the shaft to provide dual drives as required by certain industries.

DAYUE can manufacture splines on shafts that are routinely cut on gear cutters, or we can manufacture shafts and splines in a single unit on our 5-axis Integrex machines, ensuring full concentricity between shaft and splines.

Parallel keys and involute splines as well as serrations can be manufactured according to customer's drawings.
