As seen around … Berwyn
While cruising through Berwyn recently, I stumbled upon something truly interesting—a mid-90s E-One pumper parked in the side lot of Widaman Sign Co. Out of curiosity, I decided to take a closer look. It turns out that this vehicle is currently undergoing some serious refurbishment at this location. I couldn’t help but wonder whether the restoration had been completed or if it was still a work in progress.
The most intriguing detail? The apparatus now carries the label “Brownell and Sons Motorsports,†with absolutely no signs of any traditional fire department insignias. This raised more questions than answers for me. I’m genuinely curious about the history of this rig—was it once part of a fire department, or did it have another purpose entirely? And now that it's getting a new lease on life, what will its ultimate role be?
I reached out to the local firefighting enthusiasts to see if anyone might know the story behind this unique piece of equipment. If you’re reading this and have any insights, I’d love to hear from you. It’s always fascinating to uncover these hidden gems and learn about their journeys.
In the meantime, here are a few photos I snapped during my visit. They give a good glimpse into the transformation process happening right before my eyes. Maybe together we can piece together the full story of this former fire engine!
