Twin Disc introduces new digital thruster panel
Recently, Twin Disc introduced its new digital thruster panel. The digital thruster panel complements the company's EC300 Power Electronics Drive Control and Rapid Control System (EJS).
Because the digital thruster panels are made of smooth stainless steel for a rugged design in the marine environment, they are suitable for helmets, flybridges and docking stations. The ergonomic switch size is easy to use. The digital thruster panel is available in two-machine versions as well as in stand-alone versions.
It is reported that the new digital thruster panel is different in reliability and digital connectivity. Thanks to fingertip control, the operator can easily guide a ship into or out of a crowded dock. The digital thruster panel provides hydraulic proportional speed control for the bow thruster and/or the stern thruster; the more the shifting movement, the greater the gain achieved.
Another feature is the hydraulic oil alarm light. The hydraulic oil warning light constantly monitors the oil level and temperature of the thruster and can hear critical differential warnings.
The digital thruster panel interfaces with the EC300 control system to provide additional flexibility to ship operators equipped with rapid control system equipment. On a ship equipped with a dual-disc optional display panel, the propeller command displays an easily visible histogram as a quick visual reference.
In addition, the company announced that it will work with a third-party company to integrate the exhaust gas scrubber into a waste heat recovery optimization program.
