South-North Water Diversion Pumping Station Drought Relief and Water Diversion of 5.3 Billion Cubic Meters

The reporter learned from the Office of the South-to-North Water Diversion of Jiangsu Province on the 28th that because Hongze Lake and Luoma Lake have already been below dead water level, the pump station of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project is fully committed to drought relief and water diversion. The once-stopping Huai'an Fourth Station has also been re-inverted.

According to Zhang Jinsong, deputy director of the Provincial Office of South-to-North Water Diversion, the province has begun to build new and reconstructed pump stations in the South-to-North Water Diversion Project of Huaiyin Third Station, Huai'an Fourth Station, and Zaohe Station since February of this year. The water transfer has so far reached 1.3 billion cubic meters of water. After the transformation of Jiangdu Station of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project, Jiangdu Third Station and Jiangdu Four Station also set a new record in combating drought this year. The two main stations accumulated a total of 4 billion cubic meters of water, which exceeds the normal storage capacity of a Hongze Lake. At present, Baoying Station, Liushan Station, and Jietai Station of the South-to-North Water Transfer Project are well prepared and will be put into drought relief according to the dispatching instructions.
