About two months ago, Delfast, the electric bike manufacturer, made headlines when they announced the initiation of the design and development of the Trike, a three-wheeled electric bike. This project was made possible through a grant received from the USAID Competitive Economy Program in Ukraine. Fast forward to today, Delfast is now sharing more technical details about this upcoming model. According to Serhii Goncharov, one of the engineers at Delfast, the Trike features a fully designed electric frame equipped with a 750W rear motor and a 48V 40ah lithium battery. These components ensure both power and efficiency, making it a reliable choice for various types of cargo transportation. Another notable feature of the Trike is its compatibility with Wellgo pedals and ProWheel crank, along with headlights integrated into the design. One key advantage of this electric vehicle is its complete waterproofing, which not only enhances durability but also simplifies maintenance and cleaning processes.
This image showcases the e-bike's frame, which has already undergone testing within the CAD system. Although it appears similar to a 3D model, it represents the actual construction of the future Trike, complete with specified materials and technologies. "We perform simulations based on this frame, testing different load scenarios, evaluating the overall weight of the Trike, and mounting other essential components on the frame," explained Goncharov. Currently, the engineering team is deep into the construction phase. Excitingly, the Trike boasts impressive capabilities, such as the ability to travel up to 120 kilometers (or approximately 75 miles) on a single charge. This makes it an ideal transportation solution for small businesses and independent entrepreneurs who need to deliver goods to remote areas that are often inaccessible by larger vehicles. Additionally, the Trike can carry up to 300 kilograms (about 660 pounds), allowing it to handle a wide variety of cargo types. Even though the Trike may not need to exceed typical speed limits in off-road settings, it still achieves speeds of up to 40 kilometers per hour (around 25 miles per hour), ensuring efficiency and performance.
