PCBWay Plug-In for KiCad

Send Your PCB Design to PCBWay with One Click

Ever wondered if, after finishing your design in KiCad, you could place an order on PCBWay with just a single click? Well, it's now possible—and it's not an April Fool's joke.

This feature is now fully integrated into KiCad. When you click the PCBWay plugin button, the system will automatically export all necessary files from your project. Make sure you have installed the latest version of the plugin released on July 11, 2024.

• Gerber files in the correct format for production
• IPC-Netlist file
• BOM file containing all component details
• Pick and Place file for assembly

Once the files are uploaded, you can click "Save to Cart" to place your order instantly—usually taking just a few seconds. Our engineers will review the files before starting the manufacturing process.

Note: The plugin has been updated for KiCad 8, allowing you to place assembly orders directly. However, we need the "Manufacturer Part Number" for components. Make sure you run "Update Board from Schematic" and use the latest plugin version.

Install the Plugin via Official KiCad Repositories

To install the PCBWay plugin, open the "Plugin and Content Manager" from the main menu in KiCad and select "PCBWay Plug-in for KiCad" from the list.

Manual Installation Instructions

If you prefer, you can download the latest ZIP file from GitHub. Then, go to the "Plugin and Content Manager" in KiCad and choose "Install from File" to add the plugin manually.

About BOM Files

The plugin helps extract all component information from your design. To speed up the quotation process, we need the following details:

• Designator (required)
• Quantity (required)
• MPN/Part Number (required)
• Package/Footprint (required)
• Manufacturer (optional)
• Description/Value (optional)

Simply add these properties in your schematic as shown in the image below:
