Description
SGP (Spheroidal Graphite Pearlitic) cast iron rolls are widely used in roughing and intermediate stands of various rolling mills. These rolls are typically manufactured using either static casting or centrifugal casting methods. For applications where the roll grooves are not too deep, we recommend centrifugal casting for enhanced performance. By adding more alloy elements, we can achieve a microstructure composed of spheroidal graphite, pearlite, and primary carbide M3C up to 30%. The core of the roll remains strong with a high amount of spheroidal graphite in the ferrite matrix. For deeper grooves, we suggest static casting with grooves to minimize hardness variation between the surface and groove bottom.
