2024 State of Design & Make Report from Autodesk Finds Growing Confidence in Resilience, Optimism Toward AI
SAN FRANCISCO, April 10, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — A new report from Autodesk reveals that nearly 5,400 global leaders in design and manufacturing industries are more optimistic about their companies’ future than ever before. The 2024 State of Design & Make report highlights a growing confidence in digital transformation, AI integration, and sustainability efforts.
The survey, conducted across 18 countries, includes insights from professionals in architecture, engineering, construction, design, manufacturing, and media. It shows that these industries are not only adapting to change but also leading the way in innovation.
One of the most notable findings is the rising trust in artificial intelligence. Over 76% of respondents believe AI is a reliable tool for their industry, with many already using it to boost productivity, efficiency, and sustainability. In fact, 72% of companies have increased spending on AI and emerging technologies in the past three years.
Digital maturity is also playing a key role in business resilience. Companies that have embraced digital tools are seeing greater success, with 73% feeling prepared to handle economic or geopolitical challenges—up from 59% last year.
Sustainability is no longer just a trend—it’s a business imperative. Nearly all companies (97%) have taken steps to improve their environmental impact, and 69% believe sustainability drives short-term success, a significant increase from the previous year.
Upskilling has become essential as technology evolves. With 43% of professionals citing a lack of skilled talent as a major barrier, companies are focusing on training programs in AI, digital design, and software development.
“Technology is our most powerful tool for creating a better future,†said Andrew Anagnost, President and CEO of Autodesk. “As we face new challenges, our customers are leveraging AI, digital transformation, and sustainability to drive efficiency and long-term growth.â€
